Scripture - Romans 8:28

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to God's purposes."

Thoughts

As a child, when we faced difficulties, my dad would often say, "I can't wait to see the good that God is going to bring out of this!" Sometimes it would take a while, but we could usually see something good that God had created in the midst of the trial.

During this pandemic, I've wondered, "God, what are you doing at this time? What are we to learn? What do you want to teach me?"

Perhaps we are to remember that we are "but dust." We are not in control and we need to humble ourselves, and turn back to God. (2 Chronicles 7:13,14)

Perhaps God wants us to face our racism. In the midst of the pandemic, we had time to pay attention to the news of George Floyd's excruciating death and now we have the opportunity to repent and make things better.

This has also been a time to get outside and observe God's handiwork in nature. We had an amazing Spring! Perhaps this is a time to remember our Creator, notice the beauty surrounding us, and make changes so the environment can heal.

What is God saying to you? What good is God bringing out of the trials of 2020? What changes do you need to make so that you can heal?

Prayer

Loving Lord, thank you that you are working your purposes out. Give us eyes to see what you are doing so that we can join you. In Jesus' name, Amen.
